I've been a few times now. Every time sensational.
Due to the nature of each occasion, I've had the opportunity to indulge in their banquet. Throughout the evening, you'll receive multiple dishes, showcasing a variety of Greek cuisine, each one bursting with flavour.
If you're not after a full banquet, ordering an individual meal will be just as rewarding. You can't go wrong here.

There is a lot of hype for Fico. Hype can often just be hype. Is Fico worth it? Absolutely. This is an experience. See it as a combined activity to eat (well of course.. that's what a restaurant is for) but also an opportunity to witness one of Hobart's best fine dining restaurants.
It's safe to say that the chefs working at Fico don't treat it as a job but as a craft. It's evident in their work. The wine list mirrors this philosophy and has been crafted to showcase some of Tasmania's best wine, along with a more diverse range from across the globe.
Fico is located in the heart of the CBD, a short walk from Hobart's waterfront, Salamanca, or most hotels within the city.

Labelled as the ultimate foodie destination in the city of Hobart (maybe even the best restaurant in Hobart), Aloft has a lot to live up to. Exceptional wine lists, friendly service, exquisite set menus.. the list goes on. How's the price you ask? Expect to splurge. It's worth the price point.
Local produce is the heartbeat of the dining experience. With a seasonal menu, you can trust that ingredients are fresh and handled with care.
Don't forget to book. You'll be lucky to find space if you walk in without a reservation, highlighting the fact Aloft is indeed a popular Hobart fine dining experience. You can find it at Brooke Street Pier near Salamanca. The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) ferry is also located here, making Aloft a great restaurant to finish your day after a trip to Tasmania's best musuem.

The "feed me" option - choose this. It's sensational. Essentially, it's a banquet that lets you taste the best of what the chef has to offer. It’s a meat lover’s paradise with a side of Southern hospitality. The atmosphere and interior design are worth noting too. High ceilings, crafted playlists (yes, music matters), attentive staff and comfortable seating. I'd happily eat here every evening if my bank account would allow.

You might find that a lot of the restaurants have a similar feel. Fancy food, great interiors, friendly staff. Dier Makr doesn't differ here. But why would you visit? What sets this apart?
I think it's the aesthetic. There's an elegance here that isn't as evident in the other experiences on this list. You're not missing out on anything either. Tasmanian produce, located in the heart of Hobart, a curated wine list, a cocktail list, it's all here, and all worth it.
They have two sittings on Friday's and Saturday's, a single seating on a Thursday evening, and are closed for the remainder of the week. Booking is essential.
Dier Makr is yet another addition to Hobart's dining destinations and food scene.

To say I'm a fan of Asian cuisine would be an understatement. I'll take any chance I can get to indulge in gourmet Asian-inspired food. Dāna Eating House does this exceptionally well. A few meals I'd recommend looking at on your visit (the menu does appear to be seasonal so these may not be on offer all year around):
Market fish sashimi
Smoked Peking Duck
Tamarind wings
Chef Feed Me (yet another banquet.. you can likely tell I enjoy these)
Any of the cocktails - they're all great
You'll enjoy the curated experience here.

Peppina is the kind of place you’ll want to return to, time and again, for those special occasions. Or maybe just when you want to treat yourself (go on, you deserve it).
The wine bar staff are experienced and know their stuff (you'd naturally expect this, but it's not the case everywhere). On my own visit, I found myself trying wine I didn't know I enjoyed - the staff helped me discover this.
A few people have mentioned how great the oysters are, and although I wouldn't recommend this as the go-to destination to try a Tasmanian oyster, it's worthwhile if you're already here.
It's important to note that this isn't going to be a cheap meal (I doubt any on this list will be, to be honest!), yet you're not going to regret any dollar spent. Peppina is worth spending the higher price point for.

Intimate Italian fine dining. Some of the best Italian you'll find might I add. This 25-seat, once shopfront turned neighbourhood restaurant, is home to locally sourced seasonal cuisine, open lunch or dinner. Dinner is always a 6-course set menu where reservations are recommended. I often walk past after work and see the place packed - if you're only visiting, it's best to not hope for a seat and instead book in advance.
There you have it—eight (couldn't help myself, had to add one more in) sensational spots that prove Hobart is a heavyweight in the fine dining department. Each of these establishments offers more than just food; they provide an experience that will linger long after the last bite. Whether you're touring the city or a local foodie, these are the top spots in Hobart to get a taste of true culinary artistry.

Kelvedon Boast Shed is a famous boat shed on the East Coast of Tasmania. This is heritage listed and nearby Kelvedon Estate. Absolutely gorgeous.
